Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences in brief
Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Mikkeli UAS) lies at the heart of the beautiful Finnish lake district in South-Savo region. We are a modern higher education institution, offering high quality education and more fields of study than any other University of Applied Sciences in Finland. We have Degree programmes available at both Bachelor´s and Master´s levels.
Education system
The Finnish higher education system comprises of two parallel sectors: universities and universities of applied sciences / polytechnics. The universities emphasise scientific research and the teaching is based on theory. Universities of applied sciences/polytechnics are institutes of higher education based on the combination of theory and practise.
Organisation of Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences
The governing body of the Polytechnic is Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences Joint Authority. The members of the Joint Authority from 1.1.2004 onwards are Mikkeli, Pieksämäki, Pieksänmaa and Savonlinna municipalities.
Campuses
Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences serves the area of Eastern Finland with three campuses in three towns:

In addition Mikkeli University of Applied sciences has offices for supporting services: Student Services, Library and Information Services, International Services and Administration Centre.

You can choose from 20 degree programmes, three of which are in English. There are over 760 new students starting in studies leading to a degree every year, and the total amount of students is about 4500.
Highly educated staff
There are approximately 400 staff members employed at Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences, of which 200 are full-time lecturers. About 40 of our staff hold a doctoral or licentiate degree.
