Health and Welfare

In the field of health and welfare, the research and development activities of the Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Mikkeli UAS) generate welfare services and products for the public, private and third sector health and welfare providers. Particularly the use of novel technology in welfare services is a focal research frame for Mikkeli UAS. The following themes are studied in Mikkeli UAS:

• novel service concepts and welfare entrepreneurship
• children and youth welfare (prevention of exclusion)
• work community welfare and capacity building of aging population
• civic activities

Mikkeli UAS research facilities include a centre of welfare services Elixiiri and a youth research centre Juvenia.
