Objective of the Degree Programme

The objective of the Environmental Engineering Degree Programme is to educate environmental professionals possessing theoretical and practical expertise in environmental technology and management. The degree programme provides you with sound knowledge of technical possibilities for sustainable protection of our living environment, and the economically and environmentally best practices for an enterprise. Your practical studies are carried out in our environmental laboratory in the modern and international Main Campus, and also in projects carried out in cooperation with working life.

Subject-specific competences

Sustainable Development
You know the essential phenomena in soil, aquatic ecosystem and atmosphere as well as the principles of the transfer of substances in the nature. You know the impact of human activities on the nature and can observe, interpret and apply various concepts to describe the state of the environment. You are aware of chemical and microbiological risks and of the impact of the environment on human health. You know the principles of sustainable development and are able to apply them to the use of materials and energy and to the community planning.

Environmental Technology
You know unit processes and operational principles of equipment used in environmental technology. You are familiar with the main analytical and measurement methods used in monitoring environment and understand the results presented in measurement reports and articles. You know the methods and techniques related to the evaluation and prevention of the factors influencing the environment, safety and health. You are able to apply and develop your skills in the field of environmental technology.

Environmental Management and Economics
You know the principles of responsible business and the requirements set by the society to the enterprise. You are familiar with the management systems used in environmental, health, quality and safety issues. You are aware of the principles in environmental economics and environmental accounting and understand the significance of them in the economy of an enterprise. You know different methods and levels of environmental communication and understand the importance of it and environmental marketing to the enterprise. You understand the importance of environmental protection in an enterprise and are able to work as contact person between an enterprise and experts in environmental technology.
